Glengarry Historical Society Speaker Series – Preview with Donaldson MacLeod

In this special preview, featured on Glengarry TV, host Tara Wheeler sits down with Donaldson MacLeod for a quick pre-lecture conversation ahead of the Glengarry Historical Society’s Speaker Series. In just a few minutes, Donaldson offers a taste of two separate talks that trace the roads that helped shape Canada.

The preview highlights key themes from “50 Years of the James Bay Highway”—its origins, the engineering that enabled northern development, and the communities connected along the way. Donaldson also teases a second talk, “History of the Trans-Canada Highway,” exploring how the country’s most iconic route influenced travel, trade, and everyday life from coast to coast. both talks, will take place on October 1, 2025 at 7:00 pm, at the Michel Depratto Hall in Alexandria

This conversation connects national stories to local experience—bridging maps, memory, and movement across Canada while underscoring why these highways still matter to rural and northern regions like Glengarry. The Glengarry Historical Society’s Speaker Series keeps residents informed, engaged, and connected to the past that shapes our present; Glengarry TV is proud to feature this preview to bring those stories to our community.
